Commonwealth Bariatric Center (CBC) is a comprehensive bariatric center providing new hope for people who qualify for weight loss surgery — often a last resort for individuals who are severely obese. The CBC is a healthcare service provided by Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.

Dr. John Mobley of Bluegrass Bariatric Surgical Associates has partnered with Dr. Derek Weiss and Dr. John Oldham to join our bariatric center in providing safe and effective weight loss surgery procedures for our patients. Residents in Pulaski and surrounding counties will no longer have to travel out of town for weight loss surgery. We've brought experienced bariatric surgeons to you! Dr. John Mobley is a weight loss surgery patient himself having lost over 100 pounds with the LAP-BAND procedure.

Our bariatric program director, Cathi Roskind, RN, CBN  has been a bariatric nurse since 2001. Because she is also a weight loss surgery patient, Cathi brings an added dimension and personal perspective to our program. She provides education, support and encouragement for our patients throughout this lifelong event.

At  Commonwealth Bariatric Center, we offer pre-and post-op educational classes led by our certified bariatric nurse and bariatric dietitian to help ensure that you are comfortable with the procedure and with the changes in your life. We also offer clinician-led support group meetings at our center as well as Internet support for patients who may have difficulty attending the scheduled group meetings. Both Dr. John Mobley and Cathi Roskind, RN, CBN, facilitate the patient support meetings and offer the patients a unique perspective, as they are both succesfull weight loss surgery patients themselves.
